INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE Β· UNIVERSITY-ROSEDALE

My Own Platform. My Own Voice.

I'm Raiden DeDominicis. I'm running for Parliament because nobody else will say what needs to be said β€” about grocery prices controlled by three companies, gambling ads targeting your kids, and a government that let your privacy bill die.

THE HONEST TRUTH

Why I'm Running

I'm 29 years old. I'm running as an independent because this riding deserves someone who will actually say what needs to be said β€” not what a party tells them to say.

55% of University-Rosedale rents. Three companies control 60% of your grocery bill. The privacy bill died in Parliament and nobody replaced it. Your kids are being bombarded with sports betting ads every time they watch hockey.

The Liberals have been in power for a decade. Housing got worse. Groceries got more expensive. Domestic flights cost more than going to Europe. And Loblaws got caught fixing bread prices for 14 years.

β€œI have my own platform and my own voice. I can talk about things that party candidates aren't incentivized to talk about.”

MY PLATFORM

Five Things I'll Fight For

01

Affordability

Food Β· Housing Β· Travel

Three companies β€” Loblaws, Sobeys, Metro β€” control 60% of Canada's grocery market. They fixed bread prices for 14 years and gave us a $25 gift card. That's not enforcement, that's a joke. I want competition enforcement with real teeth. On food, on housing, on airlines. It costs more to fly Toronto to Vancouver than to fly to Europe. Canadians should be able to afford to eat and to see their own country. For housing: invest in modular construction. Factory-built homes that are 25% cheaper and go up twice as fast. Sweden builds 80% of their homes this way. Why can't we?
02

Ban Gambling Ads

73% of Canadians agree

Since Bill C-218 legalized single-event betting in 2021, every hockey game, every podcast, every scroll through your phone β€” bet365, FanDuel, BetMGM. Relentless. 73% of Canadians say there are too many gambling ads. 78% of parents are worried about their kids. Italy banned all gambling advertising in 2019. Belgium did it in 2023. Spain restricts it to 1am–5am. Australia is phasing it out. No Canadian party will touch the gambling lobby. I can β€” because I'm independent.
03

Protect Canadians from Big Tech

Your privacy bill is dead

Bill C-27 β€” Canada's privacy and AI regulation bill β€” died when Parliament was prorogued in January 2025. We have no modern privacy law. No AI regulation. Europe has GDPR and the AI Act. We have PIPEDA from the year 2000. Meta blocked news for 40 million Canadians and faced zero consequences. I want to resurrect the privacy bill, hold platforms accountable, and force transparency on how algorithms target our young people.
04

Trade Deals for Canadians

One simple test

Does this deal help Canadians? If yes, take it. If no, walk away. And either way, explain it honestly. The Liberals frame trade as "us vs Trump." The Conservatives spent years cozying up to Washington. Everyone's posturing. I don't care about the politics. I care about whether workers in this riding keep their jobs and whether your groceries get more expensive. Every trade decision passes one test: does this help the people of University-Rosedale?
05

Young People Should Run

I'm 29. I'm the proof.

The median age in University-Rosedale is 37. There are 95,000 students at U of T β€” entirely within this riding. This riding's youngest, most diverse residents have nobody who looks like them on the ballot. I'm not just asking for your vote. I'm asking you to consider running yourself. If a 29-year-old with a podcast and a blog can do it, so can you. Get involved. It's possible.

About Raiden

The Person

I'm 29. I studied at Queen's University. I write a blog that's β€œnot for kids β€” you've been warned.” I think about protein shakes and existential questions in the same breath.

I'm running as an independent because I want to talk about things parties won't touch β€” grocery monopolies, gambling ads, tech regulation, and why young people don't run for office.

I answer to this riding, not a party whip.
